Nakusp Museum & Historical Society

Located in the historic Centennial Building and open seasonally May through September. Houses a collection of photos and artifacts saved prior to the 1967 flooding of the Arrow Lakes to create the Reservoir.

Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre

The National Historic Site tells the story of Japanese Canadians forcibly relocated during World War II. 'The Orchard' internment camp site includes original buildings, artifacts and the Heiwa Teien Peace Garden.

Located in the 100 year old former Bank of Montreal building. The museum features exhibits about the area’s heritage, including mining, logging and agricultural history.

Silverton Gallery

Originally the Silverton Schoolhouse until its closure in the 1970's. Now a heritage site, the building houses the Frank Mills Outdoor Mining Museum and Silverton Historical Society's Interpretive Centre.

Wakefield Trail & Idaho Peak

This old pack trail used by miners now switchbacks up from the Wakefield Mine site in Silverton Creek to Idaho Peak. This 4 km challenging trail is coupled with the 2 km Idaho Peak trail for a steep uphill with rewarding views.

K&S Historical Trail Network – Three Forks Trailhead

The converted railway line runs for 8 km between Sandon and Three Forks to offer a window into the region's history. Follow the trail to view artifacts leftover from the region's mining boom.

Sandon Historical Site

The Sandon historical townsite is never closed. Outdoor exhibits can be viewed any time. From May to October some buildings are available for walk through and the Prospector's Pick Cafe is open.

K&S Historical Trail Network – Sandon Trailhead

Follow the trail to view artifacts leftover from the region's mining boom. The converted railway line runs for 8 km between Sandon and Three Forks to offer a window into the region's history.

Cody Historical Site

The old mining town is a kilometre up the road from Sandon. Surrounding Cody are several old mine sites and building ruins from the Slocan Sovereign, Noble Five, Noonday and American Boy mines.

Moyie Sternwheeler Historical Site

S.S. Moyie is the oldest intact passenger sternwheeler in the world. Built for the Canadian Pacific Railway and launched in 1898, it is now a designated National Historic Site and BC Historic Landmark.

Arrow Lakes Provincial Park is spread over multiple sites on the lake. Fauquier is one of three small parks managed by local community groups.

This mountain bike trail network across from Box Lake features a variety of moderate to advanced descents and a climbing trail.

Box Lake Recreation Site

The campsite accommodates RV's, tents, and campers. It is popular for its sandy beach and the trout and kokanee stocked lake. Only paddling or electric motor boats are allowed on the lake.

Summit Lake Ski Hill

The hill offers skiing and boarding for the whole family. The snowshoe and cross country ski loop, terrain and tube park are added fun. Rentals are available.

Tranquil park setting on a beautiful lake. Park visitors enjoy canoeing, fishing, or swimming. The campground has 34 vehicle accessible sites.

The historic trail runs along the south side of Carpenter Creek, eventually meeting Galena Trail in Three Forks. From here, connection to the K&S rail trail will take hikers to Sandon.

Located on the south side of Carpenter Creek surrounding the Village campground. Includes sports fields, swimming area, public boat launch, beach volleyball and playground.

Mori Lakeside Trail

The gentle trail follows the shoreline from Carpenter Creek northwards to Bigelow Bay and can be accessed from many points in town. Provides views of Slocan Lake and surrounding mountains.

Old Sandon Road Trail – New Denver Trailhead

The historic trail runs along the south side of Carpenter Creek, eventually meeting Galena Trail in Three Forks. From here, connection to the K&S rail trail will take hikers to Sandon.

Galena Trail – New Denver Trailhead

The Galena Trail is a 13 km section of old CPR rail line that runs from Rosebery to Three Forks. It makes for excellent hiking and mountain biking. Carpenter Creek can be crossed at the old Alamo mine site by a small cable car.

Galena Trail / Old Sandon Trail / K&S Trail – Three Forks Trailheads

Three Forks is the junction where three rail trails meet to offer exploration in various directions. The K&S trailhead is found of Hwy 31A and Galena and Old Sandon trailheads off Sandon Rd.

Old Sandon Road Trail – Three Forks Trailhead

The historic trail runs along the south side of the Carpenter Creek eventually meeting Galena Trail in Three Forks. From here, connection to the K&S rail trail will take hikers the 8 km to Sandon then beyond

K&S Rail Trail – Sandon Trailhead

Starts in upper Sandon at the kiosk and K&S replica train station. Hiker in summer and xc skiers in the winter, enjoy views of Sandon and pass by the historical Altoona mine. In winter a warming hut is available at Sandon Station.

Valhalla Provincial Park

The 49,893 hectare wilderness park on the west side of Slocan Lake protects its diverse topography, majestic peaks and unique vegetation. The park has access points for hiking and campsites.

Slocan Valley Rail Trail – Slocan Trailhead

This trailhead provides access to the 52 km Rail Trail at its most northern end. There are seven access points along the full route.

Slocan – Evans Creek Trailhead

Moderate 17 km out and back hike following the Slocan lakeshore on the edge of Valhalla Provincial Park. The turnaround point is the bridge over roaring Evans Creek.

Walter Clough Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary on Slocan River is between Slocan Valley Rail Trailheads of Slocan and Lemon Creek. The wetlands can be seen from the trail and are popular with bird watchers.

Slocan Valley Rail Trail – Lemon Creek Trailhead

This trailhead provides access to the 52 km Rail Trail. There are seven access points along the full route.

Valley View Golf Course

This nine hole course has separate tees for the back nine. A round of eighteen holes plays as a 5,411 yard, par 70 course. The licensed restaurant has a wrap around deck overlooking the course.

Winlaw Nature Park

The 9.2 hectare park is located on the west shore of the Slocan River. It offers restrooms, change rooms, a covered gazebo, picnic area, playground, beach and elevated boardwalk.

Slocan Valley Rail Trail – Crescent Valley Trailhead

This trailhead provides access to the 52 km Rail Trail at its southern end before its last stop in South Slocan. There are seven access points along the full route.

Crescent Valley Beach Park

The 2.53 hectare park is located on the west shore of Slocan River. This is a popular picnic spot, especially for river sport enthusiasts.

Professional river guides offer rafting tours, adventures and courses. The rental fleet of paddleboards, rafts, kayaks, innertubes and gear help get clients out on the river safely.
